It is my pleasure to serve as the principal of this amazing community. As a lifelong educator, I understand this field as a calling and a passion. Having served as a reading specialist and student services director in public and secular private schools for many years, I bring a unique perspective on the value of Catholic education.
Catholic schools uniquely offer our children a values-based education, setting clear moral parameters and maintaining high expectations for both academic performance and character development. Education provides students with clear answers to many of the questions facing today’s youth, such as defining what is right and wrong, who they are, and how they fit into the Church.
Our Church is "catholic," or universal, in that we are one body under Jesus Christ. Similarly, Catholic education helps each child discover and nurture their gifts, supporting them in serving the greater good of the Church and the local community. It stands out among educational options by offering a balance of individualized attention and support, coupled with an understanding of how each person's uniqueness fits into the larger community.
Why Catholic Education? While Catholic education has a long and rich history, its tradition is our best response to the particular challenges and uncertainties facing children and families today. For parents of very young children, middle school may seem like a distant concern. However, choosing a K-8 school like Sts. Peter and Paul can set your preschooler or kindergartener up for success during the challenging middle years of early adolescence.
Research shows the social-emotional and academic benefits of a K-8 model, which avoids the difficult transition to a new school at an already challenging age. Students at SSPP continue their learning in a supportive school family rooted in Catholic values, avoiding the academic and social-emotional difficulties associated with transitioning to middle school.
These are just a few of the many advantages of Catholic education. Please feel welcome to contact the school office at 724-774-4450 or email me at [email protected] to learn more about our school community and how we can help your child grow.
In Christ,
Krista Moyer
