Letter from the Principal

Dear Saints Peter & Paul Families and Prospective Families,
As a former reading specialist and student services director, I worked for many years in public education and secular private schools. This perspective has given me a unique insight into the value of Catholic education. Catholic schools alone offer our children a values-based education, with clear moral parameters and high expectations for both academic performance and character development.
It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new principal of Saints Peter and Paul! I have been truly blessed with the opportunity to serve this amazing community, and I am so grateful for the support and guidance I have received from Cindy Baldrige as I move into this position.
Catholic education offers students a clear answer to the many questions facing today’s youth, such as what is right and wrong, who they are, and how they fit into the Church. Our Church is “catholic,” or universal, in that we are one body under Jesus Christ. Likewise, Catholic education uniquely helps an individual child discover his or her gifts and have them supported and nurtured in the service of the greater good of the Church and local community. Catholic education stands alone among educational options in offering this balance of individualized attention and support, with an understanding of how one’s uniqueness fits into the whole community.
Though Catholic education has a long and rich history, its tradition is also our best response to meeting the particular challenges and unknowns facing children and families today. For parents of very young children, the idea of middle school may seem like the distant future. However, choosing a K-8 school like Saints Peter and Paul can set your preschooler or kindergartener up for success during the difficult “middle” years of early adolescence. Students at SSPP avoid the academic and social-emotional difficulties associated with a transition to middle school, while continuing their learning in a supportive school family, rooted in Catholic values.
