Another important element of the Safe Environment Policy of the Diocese of Pittsburgh is the ‘Protecting God’s Children’ workshop.  This three hour class is mandatory for all who wish to volunteer and or work at any parish/school in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  During the workshop volunteers are taught ways to recognize and prevent child abuse.  The workshop is free of charge and is offered throughout the year at many local sites and can be taken on-line. Click here to see a complete listing of the workshops that are offered at various sites and on-line.


Mandated Reporting Training (MRT)

This program teaches a volunteer important information as to who is responsible for reporting child abuse.  This on-line class is also mandatory and usually takes about three hours to complete.  A certificate is issued at completion of ther class and must be turned into the school office for on-site records.  This sigte can be found at www.reportabusepa.pitt.ed. .
